A confined space has limited entry and exit openings, is large enough for an employee to enter and work, and is not designated for continuous work occupation.
Under the terms "permit required confined space" and "permit space" refers to spaces that meet OSHA's definition of "confined space" and that contain health or safety hazards.
For this reason, OSHA requires that workers have a permit to enter these spaces.
Confined spaces can include underground vaults, tanks, storage vessels, manholes, shafts, silos, underground service vaults, and distribution pipes.
The participant must take this certification annually, to comply with OSHA regulations.
